Hot to play games on Mac?
More and more video games for the Macintosh are coming onto the market. They’re available in any gaming category you might want, including action, adventure, role-playing, sports and kid games, and Macintosh offers a vibrant and diverse gaming experience. The newest versions of the Macintosh also offer an application which is easy for users to install and lets them run Windows games on their Mac computers. Earlier Macs weren’t as friendly to gaming, but today’s Macs make it easier to port many video games. Whether your games are running on the Mac OS or through using a system that runs Windows, Macintosh provides performance which is about equal to a Windows PC with similar equipment.
When it comes to creating video games for the Macintosh, the ideal situation is for them to be developed at the same time as the Windows version of the games. This may be the ideal situation, but it rarely happens. Only a few companies create games for Mac and Windows computers at the same time.
Typically, the high-end games that come to the Macintosh actually were originally developed for Microsoft Windows. After a while they are ported over to the Mac system by one of the fairly small number of porting house companies. Two early video games, Microsoft Flight Simulator and SimCity, were converted to Mac in 1986 and 1988. One well-known exception to the rule was Myst, from 1993, which was first developed on the Macintosh and then imported to Windows a year later.
Because most Mac games are not developed at the same time as the version for Windows, the Macintosh rollout tends to lag behind the Windows version of the game, typically by several months. This is the way it usually happens with high-end games that need a lot of time to play and have intense graphics. But many companies now create original Mac video games that are of a more casual type. These games feature simple graphics and are easy to play in short bursts of time. Downloadable games are examples. Many are available in various genres, including puzzle games, hidden object games for mac, jigsaw games, arcade games and other types.
The fact that there is not enough shelf space for most brick and mortar stores to carry a full line of Mac video games is one thing to think about when you are looking for games for the Macintosh. The Mac has a small share of the computer market, so it doesn’t make sense for these stores to stock up on Mac games. But searching on Google for websites that are related to Macintosh games is easy.
Playing PC games using a Windows-based operating system on the Macintosh is another choice for Mac users. This can be done in a few different ways. Ever since Intel processors were first used in Mac computers, Mac users have been able to simultaneously run the Mac OS alongside Windows without having to reboot. The Internet has free applications that Mac users can utilize to set up this system on their computers.
Whether you are playing a video game using the Windows operating system or on the Mac OS, the gaming experience you’ll have on a Macintosh is as exciting and diverse as on any Windows PC.
