A Few Words About MMOs

August 25, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

Wow is nearly six years old now and has been on our shelves since November 2004. It is still the domintating force in it’s genre, despite its age. Throughout the course of its history, it has seen 2 major expansions, with a third to be released sometime before the end of 2010. The expansion will introduce many new features, far more than the previous expansions and will allow people to fly in old areas, also more wow macros.

Wows userbase has grown so huge over the last six year, no other game has come close to touching it. The last 6 years has seen several decent MMOs, none have performed as well as wow. There have been a lot of MMOs released since wow, and a lot of them have failed. The upcoming release of the new star wars game is receiving a lot of hype. Star wars is so popular and the developement team for the game has a proven track record in making star wars games, so it looks set to be a winner.

Recently, more hardcore wow players have been disappointed that the game is becomming easier, they no longer feel as challenged. The developers know that if they have a more accessible game, they will make more money from subscriptions!

Loads of people are no playing the browser based game called Farmville, this is because of the Facebook boom. People developing future MMOs could take this into account and start developing games more like Farmville. Time is a big constraint to a lot of people playing subscription MMOs, so games like Farmville may seem more attractive. MMOs of the future could be more like Farmville, as it is setting future expectations of the genre. MMO players of the future may find that the current gameplay mechanics need altering to be even more accissible or easier to play. Paladin Macros.

Mage Grinding Mage Easy – How To Kill 10 Or More Mobs At Once

May 25, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

Grinding is a great way to farm gold, items and reputation. If you want to know, how to use your mage to grind as fast as possible, this mage grinding guide is the right place to start.

But before I start: Did you notice how I didn’t say that grinding is good for farming xp? That’s because in my opinion grinding is not the fastest way to level your mage. Questing is the way to go in that aspect of the game.

However, if you want to level your mage by grinding, my mage grinding guide shows you the best and fastest way to do it ;)

Mage Grinding Talent Build: The Frost Spec

There are two ways to grind – one way is killing one mob after another. And there’s a better way: Slay a dozen mobs at once!

Sounds interesting? Then I recommend you to get yourself a frost talent build ASAP. It’s the one and only mage build to take on hordes of mobs simultaneous.

Frost specs focus entirely on freezing mobs, AoE spells and survivability. I recommend you to aim for a pure frost build (0/0/71) to get the most out of it.

And then you will want to enhance your skills with the matching Glyphs!

The next step is to look at the grinding strategy itself: Grinding with the frost build is all about using AoE spells like Frost Nova, Blizzard and Cone of Cold to kill as many mobs simultaneous as possible.

You have to pull them and gather them close to each other – then hit them all at once using your AoE spells.

This way you can definitely farm items, gold and reputation much faster than before. Again, if you want to level 1-80 as fast as you can, questing is much faster than grinding.

But of course there’s a trick – use the tactic from this mage grinding guide on quest mobs to complete every quest in no time!

I hope you enjoyed my mage grinding guide – Have fun farming!

World of Warcraft Warlock Guide – Necromantic Fun

May 17, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

My WoW warlock guide attempts to point you down the correct path when starting out as a warlock. Warlocks are masters of the dark arts with the ability to control demons, fire, and shadows. The spells commanded by the warlock class are primarily focused on causing agonizing pain and suffering. They’re able to hurl powerful spells from a distance, but they are not good at fighting up close since they don’t have any real physical defense. Unique to warlocks are soul shards, which are used in various spells and must be acquired from defeated mobs. The warlock is easily one of the fastest leveling classes and truly shines when playing solo. When raiding, warlocks often do huge quantities of damage and should take care not to draw aggro from the tanks.

Allowable races for warlocks are restricted to Undead, Orcs, Humans, Gnomes, and Blood Elves. The single armor type a warlock can equip is cloth. As far as weapons go, they are limited to using only staves, daggers, wands, and some swords.

Warlocks are best known for their ability to summon and control a variety of demonic minions including Voidwalkers, Succubi, Infernals, Imps, Felhunters, Felguards, and Doomguards. Each minion has it’s place with different advantages and disadvantages. Whether it’s damage over time (DoT), DD (direct damage), or summoning, a warlock can cast a full range of spells. They are able to use soul shards to conjure several useful items and also to resurrect other players. They also possess some limited self healing power via drain life, and good crowd control abilities as well. One of the overlooked benefits that warlocks have is that they do not need to pay nearly as much gold as other classes do to acquire mounts (Dreadsteed and Felsteed).

Affliction talents are used for bolstering DoT’s, drains, and curses. This spec is good for farming, boss killing, and raiding. This is generally acknowledged as being the optimum leveling spec for the warlock class.

The Demonology talent tree specialization concentrates primarily on summoning spells and bonuses for your demonic minions that make them robust and more lethal. For player versus player, this is a really good spec. For leveling up, it is just a notch below Affliction. If you want to build the most powerful demons, this is the spec you want.

Destruction uses talents that amplify the power of a warlock’s fire and shadow spells, which are primarily direct damage (DD) spells used to quickly kill one enemy. This spec is not as effective as the others at lower levels. It requires lots of soul shards, isn’t mana efficient, and is difficult to use for people who wish to play by themselves.

Where To Do Gold Farming at Northred | Know The Best Spots

February 17, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

If you want to mass your gold in WoW, you have multiple options that you can do such as gather materials, craft items, enchant gears, playing with the Auction House supply and demand, etc. Despite all that selections, apparently most of us still cling to the old ways of making gold: farming.

Bashing monsters while earning gold is a great way to testing your skill and gear while having fun at the same time. I have listed some spots that you can visit in Northrend to farm adequate amount of gold. If you are looking for information on early level farming, I recommend that you check gold farming guide.

If you have reached Northrend, here’s the list:

1. The Storm Peaks
Mobs:
– Scion of Storm (level 78); have 33% chances to drop Relic of Ulduar, 26% chances to drop Crystallized Air.
– Seething Revenant (level 79); has 34% probability in dropping Relic of Ulduar and 26% probability for Crystallized Fire.
– Icebound Revenant (level 78); have 22% chances to drop Crystallized Water.
– Nascent Val’kyr (level 78); always drop Dissolved Soul Essence, 0.5% chances to drop Fractured Scarlet Ruby.
– Valkyrion Aspirant (level 74); have 29% chances to drop Frostweave Cloth, 41% chances to drop Relic of Ulduar.

2. Wintergrasp (PvP territory)
Mobs:
– Tempest Revenant (level 80); will always give you Crystallized Air.
– Water Revenant (level 80); have 99% chances to drop Crystallized Water.
– Shadow Revenant (level 80); have 99% chances to drop Crystallized Shadow.
– Flame Revenant (level 80); have 99% chances to drop Crystallized Fire.
– Earthbound Revenant (level 80); definitely will gives you Crystallized Earth.
Don’t forget that to see these mobs you must have ‘Essence of Wintergrasp’ buff.

3. Icecrown
Mobs:
– Converted Hero (level 79); have 40% chances to drop Frostweave Cloth. For every pack, there is about six mobs included; so the strategy is round them up and finish them quickly, thus you can have proper gold per hour rate.

4. Dragonblight
Start from south of Venomspite and keep moving south while taking down every mobs that you encounter. Most of them are humanoid type, so you’ll gain gold from them as well as various items. If your level is high enough, you can finish them quickly without much difficulties (most of the NPC are between level 70 and 73).

When you reach The Forgotten Shore, sweep the coast line for more mobs, then get to the ship and kill even more mobs. By the time you have done, the previous mobs should have respawn  already, so go back to where you came from and repeat the whole process.

Important thing to do: before starting anything, go to AH and check the current item price, thus you can go for the highest payout. Of course, checking prices is only a basic thing to do, check gold secrets review for more advanced AH method to maximize your earning from farming.

With so many options in gold making, obviously one will be better than the other. For example, an expert Auction House player can generate gold in just relatively short time compared to the other player that mining ore for hours. Nevertheless, farming is still one of the best method if you know WHERE and WHAT to farm. Find the answer for this in the list of best gold guides at how to make wow gold.

Get Everything You Need To Know To Be a Better WoW Hunter

February 17, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

In WOW, as well as many other games, the term hunter refers to a class that uses long range weapons. This class is generally weak and not good at melee fighting. WoW provides the hunter class with various means to stay away from their foes such as traps and pet system.

Selecting Race
If you choose to be a hunter the first few steps will have a huge affect on your life. Here are the races you can choose from: Night Elves, Dwarf, Draenei, Tauren, Troll, Orc, and Blood Elves. Here is a list of their skills that will boost a Hunter’s performance

1. Night Elves: Shadowmeld allows them to hide and quickness give them extra dodge.

2. Dwarf: Gun Specialization which will increase their critical hit rate and Stoneform which can counter debuffs such as disease, bleeding and posion.

3. Draenei: Can heal yourself or your pet; it also has Heroic Presence which improves hit by 1% for all member of the party.

4. Tauren: War Stomp can help them escape to a distance. Endurance increases health by 5% and can be stacked with Endurance Training.

5. Troll: Bow Specialization adds to their critical hit rate which can be coupled with berserking for a higher DPS. HP regeneration and beast slaying are more reasons to pick this race. See how being a Troll allow you to make even more powerful hunter at WoW Troll Guide.

6. Orc: Command will increase your pet damage by 5% and Blood Fury can boost your attack power.

7. Blood Elves: Arcane Torrent silences your enemy and refills your mana.

Every race has it’s own abilities that can support you as a hunter; my recommendation: narrow your choice to Night Elves or Dwarf for the Alliance faction and Orc, Troll, and Tauren for the Horde Faction. The reasons behind my recommendation lays in your next step: selecting your talents build.

Talents Build
Hunters, like other classes, have three talent trees to focus on: Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival. Different WoW Hunter guides might recommend different things so you need to pick the one that best suits your playing style.

Beast Mastery
Orc is best here due to their command traits which boost pets’ damage 5%. They also resist to stun and have Blood Fury to boost their damage. Pick a DPS type pet to help you dealt greater damage such as cats and owls in PvP and a tanking pet such as boar for leveling.

Marksmanship
Dwarf and Troll are best for this path because both have weapon specialization so they can cause more damage. If you playing this hunter type; take a tank pet such a bear or boar and stay within safe distance from your enemies. If you choose Night Elves, shadowmeld is useful, but only in PvP.

Survival
This type of hunter usually plays as a support in a group; they pull enemies to their group using their long range, and then buff their groups with aspects or aura; usually this hunter type doesn’t have that much DPS since they invest most of their points in Survival tree. Tauren is good choice for this role since it also has war stomp and increased health.

After deciding on the best talent build, slow leveling process will add up your stress. Find out some of my methods to speed it up at wow quick leveling.

WoW is a complex game and have unlimited possibilities; while this basic WoW Hunter Guide is good if you are just planning to create your first hunter, there are various other methods to create a powerful hunter using different race and different talents build; you just need to be creative. I recommend that you check Ultimate WoW Review for a guide that can boost everything in your hunter life: fast leveling, huge amount of gold to fund your gears and mounts, and pvp domination.

Best PvP Talent Build For Affliction Warlock

January 12, 2010 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

If you have seen Affliction warlocks in PvP, their strategy may seem simple: just keep their distance from their opponent while bursting DoT spells, but believe me, it is a lot harder to do that than it may seems against and experienced player, so you’ll need a pvp guide for warlock that will give you the detailed info on talents to take.

Your Skills
Your primary weapon is your DoT spells, so it is only natural for you to pick the talents that give boost to your spells and DoT damage, but there are some other talents that you need too. Here’s the PvP Warlock talent build that focused on Affliction:

1. Improved Corruption; boost all of your Corruption by 10%, you don’t want to miss this since you are an Affliction warlcok.

2. Suppression; increase your spells chance to hit by 3% and reduce mana cost for your Affliction spells by 6%.

3. Improved Curse of Agony; boost your Curse of Agony by 10%.

4. Improved Drain Soul; boost your Drain Soul.

5. Soul Siphon; both of your Drain Life and Drain Soul are improved.

6. Fel Concentration; make it harder for your enemy to interrupt your channeling spell.

7. Nightfall; surprise your opponent by hurling an instant Shadow Bolt at him/her.

8. Empowered Corruption; increase your Corruption spell damage.

9. Siphon Life; increase some DoT spells damage and heal you when you use Corruption spells.

10. Shadow Embrace; increase the power of Haunt and Shadow Bolt. At the same time also reduce all periodic healing such as Priest’s Renew.

11. Shadow Mastery; increase your Shadow spells damage by 15%.

12. Eradication; when dealing damage with Corruption spells, there is 6% chance to increase your spell casting speed by 20% for 10 seconds.

13. Contagion; increase the damage of your Corruption spell and at the same time make it harder to be dispelled.

14. Malediction; increase your spell damage by 3%. It also increases your periodic critical strike chance of your Corruption and Unstable Affliction by 9%.

15. Death Embrace; increase your Drain Life by 30% when your health is below 20%. If your health is below 20% in 5v5 you will be dead in seconds, so it is not that useful in team PvP, but it has some effect in 1v1 battle. The other effect is increasing your Shadow spells damage by 12% when your target’s health is below 35%; this is very useful to finish the battle quickly.

16. Unstable Affliction; 1150 Shadow damage 15 second with 2070 damage and silence effect as “bonuses” for whoever dare to dispel it.

17. Everlasting Affliction; your Haunt and Drain Life spell can reset the duration of Corruption spell on the target.

18. Haunt; deal 654-673 Shadow damage and increase all DoT on the target. When it dispelled or ends the soul return and heals you for 100% of the damage.

You may have read other pvp guide for warlock that recommend to spend the points that left in Demonology to make you harder to kill, but for this warlock talent build, I’ll pour some points in Improved Shadow Bolt. It is useful for your Nightfall talent and as a reserve spell in case your curses are not work well on your opponent.

The Affliction build also applied in PvE, you’ll just have to adjust some talents, read the PvE buld at world of warcraft warlock guide for Affliction warlock.

Your Enemy
On some occasions, you may get away with only the basic tactic: running around while casting DoT spells and Fear, but what if your enemy can counter those skills? These are some skills that dangerous for you:

1. Drain your mana; you are fully depending on your mana for combat. A warlock with no mana is no threat at all.
Solution: Depending on circumtances, you can add your mana by using Life Tap; just be very careful when you do so.

2. Remove your curses; unless you have Shadow Bolt or any other direct damage skills on your sleeve, you have very little option left to win the battle when your curses removed.
Solution: make it more difficult for your opponent to dispell your spells by having Contagion and Unstable Affliction.

3. Resist to Fear; there are no real solution for this one. You still have chance to win, but it will be more difficult to creating distance since your opponent can chase you with their full speed.

The solutions above are only making it harder for your opponent, but it will not make you win the battle. If you want to increase your winning chance, you have to know strength and weakness of each class, including your own. A good counter strategy can be developed based on those data.

I’m not recommend you to do the research on your own since it will takes a lot of time and effort, I suggest that you read ultimate wow guide review to get the best solution to this problem. Not only it cover detailed pvp strategies for warlock, if you want it can also teach  you to level and fund your warlock.

The WoW Druid Character Guide

November 14, 2009 · Filed Under Video Games · Comment

This WoW druid guide will explain to everyone the primary advantages of creating druids.

The shape shifting hybrid class in World of Warcraft is the Druid, and this class is one of the most versatile and customizable in the game. Whether it’s Raiding or PvP, druids of every spec can find roles for themselves at the end game.

Just like with the rest of the Classes in World of Warcraft, the Talents for druids are split into three categories, or trees. Let’s take a look at what each of the druid talent trees can offer.

For druids to become a great spell damage dealer, they can opt for the balance tree which focuses on improving spell damage. Healing spell costs can be reduced by some Balance talents which is important for any good healer, and there are others that are more helpful when in a feral form.

The Feral Combat Tree which focuses on using the shape shifting druid forms of Cat, Bear and Dire Bear, each of these focusing in turn on either tanking (Bear and Dire Bear), or on melee DPS (Cat form). Learning the right time to change forms is very important. You will need large amounts of maximum mana if you specialize in the Moonkin form, and there are some Feral Combat Talents that modify this.

The druids learn the tree of life form by investing in the talent tree, and become a very good healer, since the Restoration tree focuses on healing spells. Some Restoration talents like Furor, will give the druid Rage when they switch into either Cat or Bear Form. There are other talents which will reduce the mana cost for shape shifting by as much as thirty percent.

There are a few problems with playing a druid that you should be aware of. Since druids have the ability to do so many things, focusing on a single strategy can be quite difficult. You also need several complete sets of gear, since the many different forms need gear for each one. This will make it essential to carry around a lot more gear than other characters.

Beginners Guide to World of Warcraft

WoW Beginners Guide

What is WoW?

World of Warcraft or WoW as it known, is a “Massively Multi player On-line Role-Playing Game” or MMORPG. This means thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) of players,  from all around the World exist in the same on-line game world at the same time. They abandon the real world to undertake heroic quests in a land of fantastic adventures..

The game has two warring factions: the Alliance and the Horde. When you have decided which side to play there are nine classes of character to choose from: Shaman, Warlock, Warrior, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest and Rogue. Each class has its own unique set of talents and abilities. You can, depending on the class of character that you have, choose to build your character’s talent trees for damage-per-second (DPS), tanking, healing or a combination of these.

There are 10 races to play: Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Undead, Blood Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Humans, Night Elves and Draenei and multiple professions you can have: Alchemy, Black smithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Engineering, First Aid Fishing, Herbalism, Leatherworking, Mining, Skinning, Tailoring, Jewelcrafting, and Inscription. (Note: Within the Rogue class there are two unique secondary professions: Lock Picking and Poisons).

There are thousands of quests to complete with many different kinds of weapons and transportation. In addition, there are four types of Realms which will be the very first decision you will have to make before playing World of Warcraft. Your reward is money and reputation which will increase your skill and power. A good place to start is to find a decent World of Warcraft Levelling Guide to help you through this mystical world.

Within the game itself there are two “modes” of character:

  • Player Characters (which are controlled by real people)
  • Non-Player Characters (which are controlled by the games’ software)

So you can find yourself playing a “real” person as well as the games created opponent.
Your character can earn copper, silver or gold to fund your adventures. In addition you will need to work on the different skills for your character.

There are a whole host of guides around and all do pretty much what they claim but some do it better by having additional features such as forums and members areas which help you level your character from 1-70 more easily. Many also have detailed gold guides and the latest up to date information on, for example, Wrath of the Lich King which takes you up to level 80! However, with that said, players are more than free to progress at their own pace and pit their skills against multiple on-line opponents. Click here for more information of finding some great beginners guides: Best World of Warcraft Guides.

WOW is Blizzard Entertainment’s 4th game in the Warcraft series and is now played by over 10 million people world wide! It starts 4 years after the setting of Warcraft III in the world of Azeroth.

The Horde and Alliance are opposing factions locked in a battle for control of the land – and neither side is backing down. Horde and Alliance players can battle each other, but they cannot interact, trade or even talk to each other. So if you have friends you would like to play with, make sure you belong to the same factions!
