JoySticks For The Army?

December 20, 2009 · Filed Under Video Games

Gaming seems to have heavily influenced the army over the past ten years or so. The latest venture has gone perhaps a bit too far in that the military has taken the game pad controller and has started to use it to control various things within the army.

Lets be honest here, are there any real benefits of using this kind of thing? The military have no need to now be sitting on a mounted position to control things which makes it a lot easier. With the pad they can walk around and control things in a similar way that you can control an RC Helicopter. Does anyone remember that crazy film that starred Robin Williams as a toy maker who has to try and stop his uncle from taking over the world by using remote controlled tanks and planes.

it is possible that a time may come where the army will not have to send troops in at all and just allow them to sit back and control all of these tanks and things from behind the lines? No this is never going to happen because it is the bravery, determination and wits that wins wars not some stupid machine. This is just another option to take when it comes to fighting a very modern war, it will never be used without the help of people and to think that it would is madness.

It is wondered how many deutsch connectors and multicore ties are actually needed to develop this brilliant technology. Is it really fair to put all of this guilt onto the game pad creators? The main thing is that all of this was not made to be used by the army so perhaps it is best left in the hands of a gamer and out of the military’s reach. Let us just hope that they used hellermann tyton to make sure everything is secure enough to work.
