Mafia Wars Strategy and Character Choice
It’s a pity that you have to select a Mafia Wars character class before you get a chance to play Mafia Wars, because you don’t know what it will mean to your ability to level up. Sadly, there is no way to switch your first character choice once it’s made, anymore. It wasn’t always this way; you once were permitted to pay Godfather reward points for a change in character type.
There are always rumors that Mafia Wars Zynga programmers will reinstate that character switching option, but for now we are stuck with that beginner’s choice. I wonder if Zynga has calculated how much profit they’d rake in if they offered players|the character change chance again? Plenty of Mafia Wars gamers would love to purchase a different character type. It’s not like Zynga to leave money on the table.
For now you are saddled with that initial character you picked while you were still ignorant of Mafia Wars strategy for leveling. There are three possibilities for character type in Mafia Wars:
Mogul
Maniac
Fearless
Associated with each character is one primary benefit, a top mafia spot, and a bonus power. Look at these| the Mafia Wars character descriptions individually so you can follow the leveling debate that comes after.
Mogul Character in Mafia Wars
Primary benefit: Gets the sixty minute take every fifty four minutes.
Top Mafia position: Bagman
Bonus power: When you occupy the Bagman spot in another gamer’s mafia, you have a chance to earn double the money on a certain percentage of jobs.
Maniac Character in Mafia Wars
Major benefit: Energy rebuilds at 1 point every three minutes, rather than 1 point every five
Top Mafia spot: Button Man
Bonus power: A Maniac in the Button man spot can win a percentage of fights he or she initiates even though outgunned, outmanned, and outclassed by the attacked player.
Mafia Wars Fearless Character
Major benefit: Health returns faster – one point every two minutes rather than one every 3.
Top Mafia spot: Wheelman
Come-and-go Power: As Wheelman in another’s crew, a Fearless character will be able to complete some jobs without putting out any energy.
Being a Mogul doesn’t help you level up faster in Mafia Wars if your leveling strategy is job-based. Sure, having the extra 144 minutes of “take” every twenty four hours is great for cash flow. And that’s nothing to sniff at during about the first twenty five Mafia Wars levels when cash can be tight. But whether you are a Mogul or not, odds are you’ll iron out the money objective pretty quickly in the game. That makes the Mogul character’s major benefit a bit useless before you get to far up the levels in Mafia Wars.
Leaving the Mogul character aside, there is a fierce debate raging about whether Maniac or Fearless is the best character for strategic Mafia Wars leveling. These are summaries of the debate:
Arguments in Favor of Maniac
Speed leveling is all about energy, and Maniac is the character with the best energy recovery. In Mafia Wars, you can’t ever have too much energy. While the Maniac’s come-and-go power isn’t as cool as it seems because you won’t pick fights you can’t win once you understand fight strategy, recovering your energy quickly is so critical to leveling fast that it outweighs any other advantage of character. Therefore, the Maniac character is the one to choose when you want the fastest leveling possible.
Pro Fearless
The best Mafia Wars leveling character is Fearless. Although the main benefit to being Fearless – more rapid health recovery – doesn’t exactly wow Mafia Wars players, the bonus power of zero energy cost jobs means that you will get a major advantage in speed leveling. The trick to this speed leveling strategy is that someone must put you into their Wheelman top mafia spot, even if your character isn’t too advanced yet. Once you get into that Wheelman positon, you can do up to eleven percent of the jobs for zero energy cost. Leveling up while in Wheelman will go much faster. When the jobs start consuming more energy as you move into the higher tiers, the Fearless bonus power gets more meaningful. Additionally, Fearless’ health recovery may be a bit meaningless in NYC, but in Cuba it’s aces because you take a pounding on the fightlist and pesos for the hospital are scarce.
When you’re after Mafia Wars leveling, which character is tops? If you can wheedle a Wheelman in someone’s top mafia, I’ve got to select Fearless as the superior Mafia Wars leveling character. More critical to Mafia Wars strategy overall is what both characters have in common. The primary determinant of your success with leveling strategy for Mafia Wars is the intelligent management of energy. Regardless of if you recover energy at a faster rate or if you don’t have to burn energy in order to run a certain percentage of your jobs, the cornerstone to Mafia Wars is energy.
The bad news is that you are saddled with the Mafia Wars character you picked on that first day. There is always room for improvement in Mafia Wars leveling, regardless of character, if you strategize your energy! If you’re really eager to try quicker Mafia Wars leveling and you aren’t a Fearless, you can just open a 2nd Facebook profile. Extra neat – you could promote your new Fearless character as Wheelman in your first mafia crew, ha! But don’t get sucked into the thrill and open a bunch of profiles and forget to sleep!
