World of Warcraft Fishing Guide

Your goal with WoW fishing may be to level fast or to go a little slower and make more gold. Either way, know exactly where to fish is critical to both leveling well and making gold. This World of Warcraft Fishing guide will show you how to level to 225 Artisan.

It’s hard to know exactly how much more time you’ll need to level when making gold is the strategy but usually a few more hours. Cooked fish means more gold so it’s good to train for Cooking while you train for fishing. You can train for both at the same time.

This guide assumed you’re already at the Journeyman skill level. Check out World of Warcraft Fishing Guide to get from Apprentice to Journeyman.

Master WoW fishing: Travel to one of the three oases at The Barrens

In order to progress to Master level you’ll first need to be at 75 as a Journeyman. At this skill level you can catch less junk and more fish. Focus on catching as much Deviate Fish as you can. The Shiny Bauble lure is best until you reach level 75. Using this lure means you’ll catch less junk and more fish.

Choose between 2 fishing strategies. First, you can fish The Wailing Caverns. On the one hand you’ll only catch maybe 30% valuble fish but on the other hand you’ll level faster. Being in Horde territory means Alliance players will want to take advantage of the cover this place offers.

The second strategy will allow you to catch 80% Deviate fish rather than just 30%. This will allow you to make much more gold. For this strategy you need to fish one of the oases. Of course the down side is it’ll take nearly twice as long to level just because you’ll need to move around more.

Expert and Artisan Level:

In order to reach Expert level which is 125-150 or Artisan level which is 200-225 you’ll need to find a fishing trainer. If you’re an Alliance player then leave the Barrens and head to Stranglethorn Vale. Find Myizz Luckycatch for training in Booty Bay. For Horde the trainer Lau’tiki on the south coast of Durotar is probably best. You could also use the same trainer as the Alliance one but the one in Durotar may be closer.

Leveling up to Grand Master fishing level is beyond this World of Warcraft fishing guide but there are some good ones out there that include maps to the best fishing spots.
