World of Warcraft Herbalism Guide

Herbalism like other gathering professions is a great method for making gold. Both Alchemy and Inscription go really good with Herbalism. This WoW Herbalism Guide will help get you started with Herbalism.

First things first, find a trainer who usually can be found in large cities. If you do need some help locating one just ask a guard. Alchemy trainers are often close to Herbalism trainer so think about training for both at the same time.

Go to Hellfire Peninsula in order to get training for the Master level. After these levels it’s on to Grand Master, levels 375-450, which I won’t talk about too much in this WoW Herbalism guide. But I will mention that Alliance faction can train in either Valgarde or Valiance Keep. Horde characters can find a trainer in Vengeance Landing also in Howling Fjord.

The great thing is that once you’ve gotten training you won’t need anything else, other than a bag with lots of space to carry things you gather. You can actually have a bag especially made for herbalism made for you by a tailor. Herbs and plants can be anywhere including caves and under water so keep a keen eye out for them. Don’t worry about getting too many herbs since you can alway sell them in the Auction House. With “Find Herb” activated, the yellow dots on your map will indicate those plants that can be gathered.

In order to pick an herb just walk up to it until the action cursor activates. If a plant isn’t able to be gathered, it may be because you haven’t leveled your skill high enough for it yet. Higher zones will have plants that require higher herbalism levels to pick. By the way you can also get herbs through instances, killing beasts or treasure chests.

An important thing to know is how the color codes of the herbs will affect your skill level. Hovering over a plant with the mouse will give you this color code, the following list will tell you what they mean.

  • Red- You don’t have the needed skill level to pick it yet.
  • Orange- You should pick this, it can most likely help your skill.
  • Yellw- These only have a moderate chance to help you, but you should still pick them.
  • Green- Pretty low chance that it’ll do anything for your skill.
  • Gray- These plant won’t benefit your skill.

I won’t talk in this WoW Herbalism guide about leveling up to 450 but one thing I’ll mention is “Lifeblood”, which will allow healing by getting nutrients and energy for your surroundings.
