Cooking as a profession became more popular with the WOTLK and BC expansions. Why should I level up cooking?

Many WoW players are levelling this profession for fun, to obtain the “Chef” title and finish cooking achievements, to enhance their chars in raids and of course, because it is profitable. As you can see, with cooking you can do all these and much more.

A perfect couple

While levelling cooking a good advice would be to level up fishing as you move along. Even though you can reach maximum level in cooking without catching a single fish, at some point it comes easier with fishing, not to mention that on the long run it will prove to be very profitable.

Become a Chef

This title isn’t easy to obtain and that’s why it became very popular. In order to complete the achievement Hail to the Chef and receive your title you will need to complete a list of various achievements. Many of the listed achievements will be based on the Outland and Northrend cooking daily quests and your knowledge of the recipes from these areas.

Why should I do the daily quests?

During your adventures in the Outlands, cooking dailies were good because you could earn some extra money, discover new recipes and receive additional food. When the WOTLK was released, WoW cooks got new fun options like Dalaran cooking daily quests. An npc Katherine Lee found in the Silver Enclave is the one you should seek if you are and Alliance player who is up for doing dailies, while if you are a Hordie try visiting Awilo Lon’gomba in the Sunreaver’s Inn. Each day you will be able to get randomly one of the five different quests: Cheese for Glowergold, Convention at the Legerdemain, Infused Mushroom Meatloaf, Mustard Dogs! and Sewer Stew

While doing these daily quests will earn you some extra gold and you will also receive a Dalaran Cooking Reward and a Small Spice Bag. The Small Spice Bag will always surprise you with a Dalaran Cooking Reward extra, more Northern spices and even some recipes. Sometimes you will be able to find some different kinds of spices like Baby Spice. This spice doesn’t have any practical use and is used just for fun since it can resize a targeted player and make him tiny.

Dalaran Cooking Rewards are used for purchasing new recipes that are used to make better food. If you manage to collect 100 of these rewards you can purchase a Chef’s hat and finish another achievement -Cooking with Style. This hat will allow you to cook faster and it is a true reward for a good cook. The Dalaran Cooking Rewards could be also used for purchasing more Northern spices which you need for your high level cooking. Food made from these is the best food in the game and it can be sold for a lot of gold on the Auction House.

Tips for fast dailies

As you know the daily quests are random but nevertheless you can be prepared when it comes to your inventory. For most of these quests you will need to have Chilled Meat and for a Mustard Dogs! quest you will be asked to prepare some Rhino Dogs from the Rhino Meat. Make sure you farm these in advance so you are prepared for your daily each day. If you manage to have these meats prepared, cooking dailies will take just a few minutes of your time.
