WoW Druids – Hybrids and Shapeshifters

The most popular hybrid class in the World of Warcraft definitely is the Druid class. A lot of players find this class to be a lot of fun to level up and play. If you choose to play a Druid on the Alliance side your choice of races will be limited on Night Elves while on the Horde side you can only choose the Tauren race.

Druids have many interesting abilities but the most fun one is definitely the ability to shapeshift. When they shapeshift, Druids can become a Bear, Cat or a Sea Lion and they also have a special Travel form. When the Burning Crusade was released Druids got the flying form as their flying ability. While all other classes had to wait until level 70 to be able to use their flying mounts, Druids could use their flight form on the level 68!. Another thing that made Druids unique is that their flight form could be cast instantly, same as other forms they have.

Druids could become very good healers, casters, melee dpsers and tanks and their talent tree is divided into three specializations – Feral Combat, Balance and Restoration. With the Balance talent build, a Druid will be able to shapeshift into another very fun form – the Moonkin which will allow him to become a typical caster damage dealer.

Druid’s moonkin form will afflict the whole raid and all other players will have an amazing benefit with +5% on critical strike rating. A Moonkin, or as popularly called “Boomkin” is a typical mana user.

He uses a few spells in rotation together with two DoTs to accomplish a really good dps in raids. This spec can also do a lot of damage with AoE spells like Starfall, Hurricane and Typhoon. Moonkins need to have good gear with as much spell power as possible and a lot of haste, crit and hit rating. Feral Druids can choose between a tank spec or a melee dps spec.

When he shapeshifts into the bear form, a Druid will have a lot of stamina and armor and can tank as good as any other tanking class, and if he wants to dps in melee he can always shapeshift into the cat form. With his talent points in the Restoration tree, a druid will get another special form – the tree form. When a Druid is in this form he will enhance the healing done of the whole raid for 6% while his own spells will be less mana consuming. In order to be on the top of the healing meter, a Resto Druid needs to have healing adequate gear with a lot of spirit and sp (spell power). His gear needs to have a lot of spirit and spell power and therefore healing druids are known for their ability to regenerate mana very fast.

A Druid’s armor should preferably be from leather but they can also wear cloth. If you choose to become a Druid tank or melee dps it is strongly advisable to avoid wearing cloth since armors made from leather always have much better stats. However, armors made from cloth can serve good to Resto Druids and, in some cases, Moonkins since they don’t take direct damage. Tanking Druid needs to equip the best leather armor he can get since he needs a lot of hp and armor to be able to tank proper.

If you choose either PvE or PvP game play, have no doubts when it comes to the Druid class since they are really fun to play and you can always change your spec. Leveling will also be fairly easy for a Druid and the best spec to choose for fast leveling will definitely be Feral Combat. Don’t forget that a Druid can always instantly shapeshift in order to swim faster, breathe underwater and of course travel faster.
