WoW Fishing is an Extravagant Profession
Fishing is one of the WoW’s secondary professions, together with cooking and first aid, which is considered as one of the most difficult to level up. Until the BC expansion, there weren’t many players who thought of fishing as useful. Together with the expansion in cooking which brought us many new food recipes useful for raids, fishing finally became more wanted and valued as a secondary profession. With Wrath of The Lich King Expansion, value of fishing is appreciated even more. There are many new achievements when it comes to fishing and cooking, fun daily quests and plenty of new recipes which all contributed in making cooking and fishing more popular. A player who manages to complete all of the achievements in fishing will be awarded with a title “Salty”, which is considered as one of the more difficult ones to earn, and with not many players wearing it. In order to get this title you will need to do series of fishing achievements like The Coin Master which has three parts – A Penny For Your Thoughts, Silver in the City and There’s Gold In That There Fountain. You will also need to win on a Sunday’s Booty Bay fishing contest for the Master Angler of Stranglethorn achievement, do all of the five fishing daily quests found in Dalaran for the Chasing Marcia achievement, fish from different types of fish schools in Outland and Northrend, etc.
Fishing is not only a very useful, but also a very lucrative profession. If you decide to level up fishing you don’t need to level up cooking as well, however, these two professions are a perfect match so an advice would be to level them both together.
How exactly is fishing profitable?
Well, the answer is simple – fish! You can just go to certain areas on the map and find fishing spots and just fish. Selling raw fish is also very profitable and stacks of various fishes are sold on the Auction House in the split of a second. It will be even more profitable if you have cooking leveled up as well, as you will be able to sell finished food. There are various foods made from fish that can increase stats of any class, like spell power, spirit, stamina, hit rating, crit rating, haste rating, agility, strength, attack power, etc.
There is a special food for hunters’ pets and for the whole raid – Fish Feast. The fishes for this feast can be caught throughout Northrend zones and require Northern Spices obtainable through cooking daily quests in Dalaran. This special Fish Feast will grant anyone who eats it 80 attack power, 40 stamina and 46 spell power for one hour duration. Click here for more on professions: WoW Professions Guide
We can say with certainty that fishing is very useful and that together with cooking it belongs to the professions that can boost your character as well as your friends and guildies. However, most of the players who leveled up fishing say that this profession is very hard to level since its leveling goes quite slow compared to other professions.
In order to level fishing, a player needs to have an adequate fishing pool equipped, plenty of lures which will serve as a fishing skill increase buff and to choose the zone that suits them best for fishing. Apart from that, just as in the real life, it will require a lot of patience as well. Casting your fishing pool into the water and waiting for a fish to bite can take time.
Although it may seem slow, do not give up on it. Take your time, and keep in mind that with this profession you shouldn’t be in a rush and that by doing daily quests you will also gain a lot on your skill. It will go a lot easier from there.
